From Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations division comes their maddest creation yet – the Jaguar XE SV Project 8. Based on the tamer Jaguar XE, this left-hand drive only track focussed saloon car is the special edition we didn’t know we wanted but are grateful to have. As 1 of only 300 examples worldwide, this is a rare special edition that looks mega, sounds insane, and drives like a true racecar. Completely reworked from the XE, the Project 8 features almost entirely bespoke body panels and styling, with a new engine to bring it to life.

Powered by the 5.0L Supercharged V8 that can also found in the Project 7, the Project 8 produces a beefy 592hp with a 200mph top speed and thunderous exhaust note. The Project 8 is specifically engineered to the extreme, with several track focused features to give the car incredible speed and dynamic agility. Getting from 0-60mph in just 3.3 seconds, this is one of the fastest accelerating Jaguars to ever be produced.

Despite dialling the XE up to eleven and getting a Hulk inspired Jaguar as a result, the Project 8 is not only road-legal, but performs just as well on a Sunday drive as it does round the Nürburgring. The active dampers paired with some serious grip from the massive tyres and aerodynamics make the Project 8 a surprisingly usable road car. The new rear wing, splitter, and diffuser contribute to reducing lift by 205%, with 122kg of downforce at 186mph. The intelligent 4-wheel drive system keeps the car stable even in damp conditions, whilst still allowing you to swing the back end out and enjoy some more spirited driving when the conditions and your bravery call for it. Despite its brutal demeanour, the car is equipped with plenty of creature comforts like cruise control, ambient lighting, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10.2-Inch Touchscreen infotainment system, all connected to a Meridian Sound System.

Optional on the Project 8, and present on this particular example, is the Track Pack. This was a £10,000 option that converts the already track-focussed car into an absolute menace capable of lapping the Ring in 7 minutes and 18 seconds – making it the fastest saloon car round the infamous circuit. The Track Pack removes the rear two seats, replacing them with a roll cage and adding in two lightweight carbon fibre racing seats with 4-point harnesses for the 2 front passengers. If you are looking for ultimate performance, then the Track Pack is a must-have.
