Disney Wonder Cruise to Alaska|Ketchikan-Day 3

Disney Wonder, Alaska 9 Night Cruise, July 2025. Day 3, Ketchikan! Join us for our latest adventure!

We began our morning with the calm and serene sail into our first port of call, Ketchikan! From our verandah, we took in the beautiful views of the snow-covered mountains as the ship prepared to dock in the heart of town. We recommend taking time to enjoy the sail in.

We opted for sit down breakfast at Triton's where we dined on a variety of menu offerings, including eggs Benedict, Southern hash, and Mickey waffles. The slower-paced meal was a great start to our day. Photographers were out on deck offering some photo ops with Ketchikan in the background so we had to grab a few family shots dressed in our lumberjack-inspired outfits!

Once off the ship, we made our way to Creek Street. The plan was to explore some of the shops and to see salmon. We came across plenty of souvenirs and found a nice bookstore along the way as well. Unfortunately, we were just a bit too early in July to see the salmon that the city is known for. Ketchikan is easily walkable, and there are even more shops in town. We dropped by Ketchicandies and picked up several items, including some huckleberry flavored treats, fudge and chocolate dipped peanut butter Oreos! A few other highlight shops included Shirt Off My Back, where we found some sweatshirts, and the Christmas shop where there were tons of ornaments, magnets, key chains, candies and a variety of other souvenir items.

We made our way back to the ship for lunch. We had originally intended to eat in town but found the lines to be rather long at the eateries near the dock. Cabanas was super busy but we enjoyed lunch and dropped off our souvenirs in the stateroom before heading back out for our excursion, The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show. We did book the Disney exclusive show during which Goofy made a short appearance and kids in the audience were called up to "exercise" before the show started. If we were to book this experience in the future, we would save the extra money and book the non-Disney version. The lumberjacks were fun to watch. They displayed tremendous skills and the competition between the US and Canada added to the excitement. We certainly had an enjoyable time.

Back on the ship, we bid goodbye to Ketchikan and set on about our evening. We skipped the evening show but opted for a few photo backdrops in the atrium before dinner.

Animator's Palate is one of our favorite restaurants in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. There is something extra magical about black and white Animator's. We were excited to see Sorcerer Mickey and the changes in the restaurant from black and white to color are always so much fun to see. Several menu items are on our must-lists, including the black truffle pasta purseittes, the serrano ham, baked potato and cheddar cheese soup, and pennette bolognese. For dessert, the lemon icebox pie and warm sticky date pudding are always delicious options!

We soaked up some time out on deck and our verandah after dinner. Even at 10:45pm, it was light outside. The beauty of the Alaska wilderness was so incredible, and we felt blessed throughout the cruise with all the scenery. Be sure to stay tuned, there is so much more to come!
