Why do they call it the Pipe Track?? Cycle route NCR7 Aberfoyle to Drymen

The National Cycle Network Route 7 (NCN 7) is a delightful section of a major UK cycling route that stretches between Sunderland and Inverness. One of its most picturesque segments is the one between Aberfoyle and Drymen.

Starting from Aberfoyle, located within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, you’ll find yourself surrounded by a stunning landscape rich with forests and lochs. Leaving the town, you follow the old railway line, part of the route is through the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. The path is well-maintained, offering a smooth ride, and there is minimal traffic making it a safe and serene ride.

The journey to Drymen, often referred to as the Gateway to East Loch Lomond, unfolds gradually, though the last part is a swift decent from the highest part of the segment.

All in all, this stretch of NCN 7 is ideal for cyclists seeking a peaceful, scenic route away from the bustle of traffic. As you can see from the footage it’s a truly invigorating ride through some of Scotland’s finest landscapes.
