On May 11, 2019, a long project of Rick Rowlands and Youngstown Steel Heritage came to fruition. On this day, the last spike was driven on the 23" gauge railroad snaking around the facility, and rides were given over the mainline by the most unlikely of locomotives: a steel-hauling 1937-built Porter tank engine. Originally a workhorse of a steel plant in Pittsburgh, locomotive no. 58 began her new role as a major attraction in Northeast Ohio. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the long-gone steel industry.
