Lhasa Potala Palace: Morning Kora around Potala Palace, Glimpse of Everyday Life of Local Tibetans

Filmed in late August 2020. It was a normal day in Lhasa. A kora around the Potala Palace, also known as Tsekhor Kora, is the start of a new day for many Tibetans. A steady stream of local Tibetans, not only the old people but of all ages, come to walk around the Potala Palace, the most majestic palace in Tibet. Learn more visit at https://www.tibettravel.org/

A steady stream of local Tibetans came to walk around the Palace, either in traditional Tibetan clothes or wearing modern casual clothes. They walk clockwise around the Potala, holding prayer wheels and Buddhist prayer beads in their hands.

Follow our camera to the side of the Palace, you can see a variety of small shops on one side of the road and the majestic Potala Palace on the other. There is a row of prayer wheels at the foot of the Potala Palace. Tibetans turn the prayer wheels to accumulate merit, to help sentient beings, and to purify their karma.

The whole kora takes you to walk around the Potala Palace, passing by the row of a continuous circuit of prayer wheels, Chortens, rock paintings, and Lukang Temple. Besides the locals doing the Kora, you can also see pilgrims prostrating toward the Potala Palace.
