This video explores the concept of Batuni Roza (Spiritual Fasting) in Ismailism, as explained by Rai Kamaluddin Missionary. Unlike physical fasting, Batuni Roza emphasizes inner discipline, self-purification, and control over desires in everyday life. The discussion delves into its significance, deeper meanings, and connection to Ismaili spiritual practices, shedding light on how Ismailis strive for a higher state of consciousness and nearness to Allah beyond just abstaining from food and drink.
Hadith:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
"Shall I not tell you about something that is better than fasting, prayer, and charity?"
They (the Companions) said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!"
He said, "Reconciling between people, for enmity and hatred shaves away rewards."

"There are many people who fast but get nothing from their fast except hunger, and there are many who pray at night but gain nothing from their prayer except sleeplessness."

Hadith:
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:
"One who fulfills the needs of his brother, it is better for him than observing i'tikaf (seclusion in worship) in my mosque for ten years. And whoever walks with his brother to fulfill his need, it is better for him than observing i'tikaf for two months."
(Ibn Abi Dunya & Tabarani – Hasan hadith)
Another hadith with a similar meaning:
"The one who walks in the service of his brother (to help him), it is as if he spent his whole day fasting and his night in prayer."

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:
"When one of you fasts, let him refrain from obscene speech and ignorant behavior. If someone insults him or fights him, let him say: 'I am fasting, I am fasting.'"
(Sahih al-Bukhari 1904, Sahih Muslim 1151)
Another related narration states:
"Fasting is not only from eating and drinking, but also from vain talk, foul language, and ignorance. So, if someone abuses you or behaves foolishly with you, then say: 'I am fasting, I am fasting.'"
(Ibn Khuzaymah, Hadith 1996 – Classified as Sahih by Al-Albani)
In another hadith, Imam Jafar al-Sadiq (RA) narrated:
"When you fast, your hearing should fast, and your sight should fast, and your tongue should fast from lying and sin. Do not harm your servant. Maintain dignity and calm on the day of your fast, and do not make your fasting day the same as your non-fasting day."
(Al-Kafi, Vol. 4, Hadith 181)
