Prof. Alexey Chernikov has recently been appointed a professor of Ultrafast Microscopy and Photonics at TU Dresden. In his university-wide inaugural lecture Quantum materials light up! taking place in Schönfeld-Hörsaal at TU Dresden on January 20, 2022 at 4:40 pm he will present his contribution to research, transfer and society in an intelligible way. Fundamental properties of matter change drastically in the quantum regime on the atomic scale. Exceptionally robust electronic complexes emerge to absorb and emit light with high efficiency. Transporting energy and information, they offer fascinating platforms for basic science and avenues for future technology.
