Located in a canyon below Shushi, in Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh Republic), Karin Tak is built on steep terrain, with sheer vertical cliffs towering above it. Despite many difficulties, including a sloping geographical position, this is a vibrant village, with a population of close to 700.
The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund has implemented several development projects in Karin Tak, including the construction of a potable-water system and a community center, as well as the renovation of the school gym.
In 2015, the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund launched yet another vitally important project in Karin Tak: The construction of a state-of-the-art kindergarten, to replace the community’s old, dilapidated facility.
The construction of the new kindergarten is co-sponsored by the Devejian and Ekserciyan families as well as Krikor Simsiroglu of Argentina, the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s Greek and Cypriot affiliates, and the government of Artsakh.
Karin Tak was founded in the 18th century. It is among villages that were utterly devastated during Artsakh’s war of liberation. Every year on January 26, residents commemorate their community’s heroic battle and victory in 1992.
