Elmsford FD Working Structure Fire Response

Fairview Fire Department Engine 175, Utility 102, and Car 2121, Westchester County Department of Emergency Services Battalion 14, Hartsdale Fire Department Engine 170, Elmsford Fire Department Engine 137 and Car 2111, Greenburgh Police Department 59-Medic-5, Valhalla Fire Department Rescue 9 (Firefighter Assist and Search Team), Irvington Volunteer Ambulance Corps Ambulance 64B1, Irvington Fire Department Car 2202, and Millwood Fire Department Car 2253 responding to a working structure fire on Ridgeview Terrace in the Village of Elmsford, New York. A complete rundown of the units that responded is listed below.

Originally, the Elmsford Fire Department was dispatched to a reported car fire. At the time, they were already operating at a fire involving lithium-ion batteries at a recycling center/scrap yard in their district. (Check out a video of the Putnam County HazMat Team responding to that incident:    • Putnam County BES HazMat 1, Bureau of Emer...  ) While units were responding, 60-Control (dispatch) re-dispatched the call reporting a car fire inside of a garage. Car 2112 was first to arrive on scene and immediately requested the 10-75 (working fire assignment), bringing in all of the mutual aid resources. Battalion 14 arrived on scene shortly after and advised that units were operating at a large 3-story multiple dwelling with multiple cars on fire inside the garage. He also advised that all visible fire had been knocked down and crews were checking the adjacent units for extension. Command then requested all units to proceed in non-emergency and, soon after, placed the incident under control. All units were back in service after approximately one hour.
