We visit the Copper City Ghost Town located in the not far east of Mount Rainier in Yakima County way up the Forest Service 1808 road.
On this episode of Searching for History, Erin and I drive out into the Wilderness passed Bumping Lake, to the Copper City Ghost Town. Copper City was a mining camp that served 42 active mining claims from 1907 to 1942. In the end the mines did not produce as expected and the hoped for railroad was never built, marking the end of Copper City. Today you find the ruins of an old bunkhouse and the remnants of the old ore processing mill. The journey out to Copper City is on one of the roughest roads in the state! Join us as we visit the Copper City Ghost Town.
