So while I was away on my 2 week break in September, I visited this classic heritage railway with my Grandparents known as the Kent and East Sussex Railway. Originating back to the early 1900's This is one of many heritage railways that has been operating in the UK for many years now, preserved and kept going by passionate Railway volunteers both young and old.
The locomotive shown here is SR USA Class 0-6-0T No. 30070 that was built in America in 1943 and brought to the Southern Railway in England for use after World War II. It was one of many steam engines that was withdrawn from main service thanks to the rail modernisation plans that took place in 1962, but thanks to the volunteers at this railway, it has been kept working alive and well and hopefully for many more years to come!
