The Lester Young Trio (Young, tenor sax; Nat "King" Cole, piano; and Buddy Rich, drums) recorded Somebody Loves Me in 1946. For me, it is a shining example of small group swing and offers further proof of the genius of Young and Cole in particular, although Rich does an admirable job of keeping the motor running without standing in the others' way. He made more notable contributions to other tunes on the record.
