Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five recorded Joe Oliver's "West End Blues" less than a month after Oliver introduced it but it was Armstrong's recording that became an instant classic. Featuring a blistering trumpet fanfare and one of the earliest recordings of scat singing, the record continues to inspire generations of listeners and musicians.
