On today’s plumbing repair vlog, I got called out to a home in my own neighborhood after the lawn guys “hit” a water line in the front yard.
After arriving on site, it became pretty obvious to me that the cause of the leak was not that the lawn guys were negligent, but rather; that the plumbing contractor had failed in two critical areas:
1. The immediate cause of the leak was due to a 1” PVC 90 that was simply “un-glued”. Without any cement or primer, it’s a miracle the pipe managed to hold pressure this long.
2. The water service was installed way too high. Florida Plumbing Code requires that water lines be buried to a minimum depth of 12” whenever possible. This section of pipe was barely an inch below the dirt!
It seems pretty obvious that the original Plumbing Contractor (ahem, rhymes with Gayonet Plumbing) had a crew out that cut some corners on the installation of this water line.
Will anyone be held responsible? I’m not sure, but I do know one thing:
