Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad Train Through Elbe WA & Forested Hills Sunny Day in 2004

Views from the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad on a sunny day in September, 2004. Many different train cars can be seen parked on the siding as the train leaves and returns to the station. Most of the time passengers expect to be on a scenic journey with the steam engine at the front but on this day part of the line was out of service and so the diesel engine was used. The train took its secondary route backing up into the hills above the town of Elbe, Washington, and then returned. This particular video tape was scanned through a digital service however the sound was lost or there was some other technical problem during the transfer. The tape has been edited down as a result. As a side note - if you go to thrift stores looking for home movies and video tapes, the sooner they are transferred to a digital file the better. The sound and/or picture will degrade over time including ones like this from an 8mm video cassette, though some video transfer services like the one you may have heard advertised does not always do the best work.
