«Gaol Ise Gaol I» is a so-called waulking song of Scottish Gaelic origin. A waulking song is a type of work song sung by women to keep the rhythm when kneading wool into felt (waulking).
This song offers a glimpse into the lives of women in that time - where hands shaped craft and hearts carried pride of the work. A quiet before the storm, before the shadow of history fell upon the village.
From the concert «HEX» - a musical journey through the 17th-century witch trials in Norway, featuring guest artists Anna Bariyani (Curawaka) and Lindy-Fay Hella (Wardruna). Held at Kulturkirken Jakob in Oslo on May 25th, 2025.
