Many don't realize that producing renewable energy infrastructure requires mining rare earth metals and other materials. These processes can involve toxic chemicals and generate hazardous waste as facilities can disrupt local plant and wildlife. The amount of land needed for utility-scale solar and wind farms is vast and then the question arises... How is this environmentally friendly?
