Determining whether your field has soybean seedling disease or PPO injury

In this video, Pioneer Field Agronomist Carl Joern is in a soybean field helping a grower make a replant decision. This particular field was a great opportunity to discuss whether a soybean field is experiencing soybean seedling disease or chemical damage. The key differentiator is to see where the damage to the seedling starts. Does it start and stop above the soil line? Or is there damage beneath the soil line, impacting the root system? Visible damage above the soil is an indicator of PPO injury, which is usually the result of heavy rainfall splashing down on the soil surface, making contact with the chemical and carrying it up the plant.
