We know that win rate and risk/reward ratio are generally speaking inversely correlated. It is in fact very hard to have a high win rate and a high risk:reward ratio. But if our system has a good win rate and a decent risk:reward ratio then that's excellent. OK.

Win Rate = probability of success. If you have a high win rate you don't need that much of a risk/reward ratio to be profitable. If your win rate is low you need a high risk/reward ratio.
Risk/Reward ratio = say I'm risking GBP1 to make GBP10 then risk reward is 1:10.

High frequency traders would typically have very high win rates but their risk-reward ratio would be marginal. As private traders we want a good risk-reward ratio but we also want a decent win rate as well.
