Welcome to A Seat at My Mom’s Table, a cozy space where I teach you how to cook using my late mom’s recipes. These are the meals I grew up eating at the ones that feel like home.
Today we’re making her simple tuna salad, a staple in our house and a favorite of my best friend growing up. It’s quick, high-protein, and perfect if you’re just learning how to cook. No fancy tools, no stress! It's just real food and a little love.
This recipe is beginner-friendly, keeps you full, and comes together in minutes. You can eat it with crackers, on a sandwich, or prep it for easy lunches during the week.
If you’ve ever felt intimidated in the kitchen, this series is for you. You always have a seat here. 🤍
Mom’s Tuna Salad Recipe
1 can or packet of tuna (about 25g protein)
Mayo (about 1 tablespoon, adjust to taste)
Pickle relish (1–2 spoonfuls, depending on how much you love pickles)
Salt (only if your tuna isn’t already salted)
Pepper
Drain the tuna and place it in a bowl or container.
Add mayo and pickle relish.
Season lightly with pepper and a pinch of salt if needed.
Mix until creamy but still slightly pink.
Taste and adjust to your liking.
Enjoy with crackers or on a sandwich. If you're packing a sandwich for lunch, just keep the bread separate so it doesn’t get soggy!
