John's Original Holden Torana L34 SLR 5000 was the Perfect Find!!

One this weeks Aussie Garage Interview, we are speaking to John about his Original 1974 LH Holden Torana SLR5000 L34, however, this is just the tip of the iceberg into John's Car Collection with his son Travis.

At the moment John has his Holden Torana SLR5000 on display at the Motor Museum of WA at Whiteman Park, Western Australia. John first purchase the Torana in 2001 and it all started because his son, Travis, was chasing a Holden Torana Hatchback for a build. So they found this in paper, as soon as his wife saw the back of Torana under the Car Cover, she instructed to buy it. Now this Holden Torana SLR5000 has done less than 100,000km, with original untouched paint, number matching engine with original gearbox and diff too. This Torana is 1 of 263 of this vehicles that were produced by Holden Australia, so super rare vehicle as there would less original ones left now.

All John and Travis have done is repaired a leak in the transmission, rebuild the original engine (even though it did not need it) and freshened up the paint in the engine bay area only. The also change the Hotwire Wheels that were popular in the day back to the original GTS rims. They have not change the interior or anything else. So this Aussie Muscle Car is a true savior.

The Holden Torana SLR5000 is running the standard 5.0lt 308 V8 engine, with M20 4 speed with a Banjo diff. Which some people have said were the down falls of the L34 was the Banjo Diffs. If they hit the sides of the roads off the track, they would break the diff axles. However, in saying that, Peter Brock had no issue in one of these.

The Interior in the Torana is like new and back seat does not look like its been sat in ever. It has all the SLR standard features in the interior as well. Now due to fact this is a rare Vehicle, John is relucent to drive the vehicle to far to keep the kilometers to a minimal. If it was my vehicle, I would be doing the same as well. Now the value of these Torana are in excessive of $800k or more.

Now John and Travis also have 12 other vehicles in their collection, so we going to make a few more appointments with John to see these awesome cars shortly. Thank you John for doing this Aussie Garage interview and we will see you soon mate.

Now Dan and I had a few minutes to kill after the interview, so we decided to what new attractions were at the Motor Museum of WA lately. So they have a few new cars, so here the first one.

1 of 14 Nissan Skyline GT R34 that was Tuned and Modified by Nismo at their Omori Factory. This Skyline is worth over $1.1m and is so different to most Skylines I have seen.

The Second one, is the car used in the Euro Vision event by a Perth Band called Voyager. The come 9th over all and this was also the lead singers first car as well.

Lastly was an Aboriginal Artist Car called Pathways which was paint by Justin Martin and maybe the only full indigenous painted Holden in WA and Australia.
