Amtrak and SEPTA on the Northeast Corridor through Claymont, DE-June 19 2024

On a hot and sunny Juneteenth, we ventured to the SEPTA Claymont, Delaware station to witness operations on the Northeast Corridor. During our trip, we managed to catch two heritage units: SEPTA Silverliner IV 401 "Penn Central", and Amtrak ACS-64 642 "Saluting our Veterans". We also managed to capture several Northeast Regionals, some Acela Expresses, a Silver Meteor, and a Carolinian.

The new SEPTA Claymont Transportation Center was completed in November 2023, and replaced the older Claymont station located about a mile south. The new $90 million station features a brand new parking garage with over 800 spaces, ADA compliant high-level platforms, benches, bike racks, EV charging stations, and PIDs located on the platforms. On November 27, 2023, the station was officially named the "Harris B. McDowell III Transportation Center", in honor of the senator who represented the First Senate District from 1976 until 2021.
