Oriental (literally oriental) is a cat breed officially recognized in 1977 in the USA. Distinctive features are a long slender body, refined bones and strong muscles, a wedge—shaped head, very large ears, a thin long tail, playfulness, talkativeness, friendly character, affection for a person.

It belongs to the Siamese-Oriental breed group.
