Taking a break from Jeep and tool projects... I picked up a dead Synology NAS that suffered from the common defective Intel Atom C2000 series processor issue.
This NAS was already out of production usage and was only in the rack as emergency storage. I was using it to test DSM updates before I applied them to their production replacements. The upgrade from DSM 6.4 to DSM 7 went smoothly until it came time for the unit to reboot itself. It didn't turn back on afterwards. It was well out of warranty and extended warranty. As such it was destined for the scrap heap. Using the method described on various online sources, soldering a 100 ohm .5 watt resistor across two points on the motherboard, I was able to revive it. (It even picked up on the DSM 7 update process right where it left off.)

Disclaimer: This video is not meant to be a tutorial but the basic details are there. I am not a professional at board level repairs. Do this repair at your own risk. This fix can last days, weeks, or months. It might also last hours. The underlying issue with the CPU is still present. Success is not guaranteed but many have had success with this workaround.
[Oct 2023 edit] Still surprised to see this one getting views. It's definitely not my best video work and was meant to salvage a dead piece of hardware from the scrap pile if I could. Surprisingly, it still works, though I don't run it 24/7 due to the noise of the dual power supplies.
