Georg Philipp Telemann’s Gulliver Suite for two violins was published in 1728 in Der Getreue Musik-Meister, a periodical the Baroque composer founded to promote contemporary music.
The suite playfully references Jonathan Swift’s 1726 satirical novel Gulliver’s Travels, with miniature dance movements depicting the Lilliputians, Brobdingnagians, and other fantastical characters from the book.
Recorded live in Alice Tully Hall on May 2, 2016.
