All About CrossFit
A form of high intensity interval training, CrossFit is a strength and conditioning workout that is made up of functional movement performed at a high intensity level. These movements are actions that you perform in your day-to-day life, like squatting, pulling, pushing etc. CrossFit is a broad, general and inclusive strength and conditioning program that makes use of high-intensity, constantly-varied, functional movements with the specific objective of optimizing the trainee's physical competence in each of ten recognized fitness domains: Cardiovascular and Respiratory Endurance, Stamina. In a nutshell, CrossFit is a branded type of exercise (like Zumba or Nia) that focuses on core strength and conditioning, hitting all 10 major fitness domains: stamina, strength, flexibility, speed, coordination, power, agility, balance, accuracy, cardiovascular and respiratory endurance. CrossFit is promoted as both a physical exercise philosophy and a competitive fitness sport, incorporating elements from high-intensity interval training, Olympic weightlifting, plyometrics, powerlifting, gymnastics, kettlebell lifting, calisthenics, strongman, and other exercises. Contrary to popular belief, CrossFit is totally beginner-friendly. A CrossFit coach at the whiteboard, explaining the day's workout to members. How Long is a Typical CrossFit Workout? Improve agility, balance, and flexibility and burn calories and manage weight. Rather than being all about endurance or all about strong, explosive movements, CrossFit taps both your aerobic and anaerobic energy systems. You might burn more calories doing 20 minutes of intense CrossFit work than in running easily for 20 minutes, but you can probably burn more total calories from easy running, simply because you can sustain the activity for longer. Will CrossFit burn belly fat? With a mixed variety of aerobic exercises, strength training, and high-intensity interval routines, you will find that CrossFit is very effective at burning your belly fat. In fact, the average CrossFitter can burn around 2,700 calories per week if they commit to some five-hours and fifteen-minutes of exercise.
A little about me:
Twenty three years ago I suffered a spinal cord injury on a cold dark November night. It was diagnosed I had a T-12 incomplete compressional fracture. Since day one of my accident I have had and continue to have an enormous amount of support from my family, friends and community. Once becoming completely independent, bound to a wheelchair I always enjoyed giving back. Whether it was visiting schools, community organizations public speaking, demonstrating sports, visiting newly injured spinal cord patients, helping with non-profit organizations helping people is what I love to do. That is why I decided to start ParaLife TV. In today's world as we all know public gatherings, in my neck of the woods anyway have been basically shut down. ParaLife TV is a way for me to continue to help. Through YouTube I am able show people day to day experiences, how I have adapted to life in a wheelchair and share what our community has to offer.
What is paraplegia? Paralysis of the lower half of your body, including both legs, is called paraplegia. Paralysis of the arms and legs is quadriplegia. Most paralysis is due to strokes or injuries such as spinal cord injury or a broken neck.
Can a paraplegic walk? While the stereotype of a paraplegic is of someone in a wheelchair who cannot move his or her arms or legs, cannot feel anything below the level of injury, and cannot walk, paraplegics actually have a range of capabilities that may change over time, both as their health evolves and their physical therapy helps them.
Can paralyzed people walk again? Many factors play a role in regaining the ability to walk after a spinal cord injury. Fortunately, it is possible for many SCI survivors. There is potential to walk again after SCI because the spinal cord has the ability to reorganize itself and make adaptive changes called neuroplasticity
