A Quiet Day After the Fields
After pushing myself for days to prepare the rice paddies, exhaustion finally caught up with me. So today, I gave myself a bit of rest. I washed the blankets and mended a pair of socks with a hole in the toe. The tremors in my hands—something that’s crept in over time—made the needlework a challenge, but still, it was a rare moment of quiet and calm.
The sun was kind today, so I went up to the rooftop and laid out the nuruk to dry. I haven’t brewed a batch of rice wine in a while, but I thought that if I at least dried the nuruk, maybe the urge to brew would come back.
And just like that, the day slipped by—gently, steadily, like so many others.
