UCR UPDATE: 1989 Toyota Corona 2.0GLi - Off to Paint BUT What Have I SPENT So Far? | EvoMalaysia.com

SO YEAH folks, as you already know, I'd chosen the 1989 Toyota Corona as the next car for my Weevil Garage, and I gotta say, I think I made the right choice! It's been relatively easy getting this car back on its feet, thanks to Kenzone who undertook the job whilst putting my Proton Savvy on the back-burner for a spell (not to worry, more to come on that), since it took all of 2 days to get this car fully transfused and some parts replaced, yep, just two days!

Many thanks to Jason of M One Performance in Taman Megah too for installing the new rear lights and grounding cables for me, top job buddy, nice one!

TBH, as expected it's only the trim parts that will be a bit hard to come by, and not as easy to source as parts for my Corolla in the past. I reckon this one will be closer to the Nissan Sentra insofar of parts hunting is concerned.

As mentioned I did have a small water-pump issue during the first 'shakedown' drive, but it was easily sorted. The faster you drive the harder the pump works, and I think this car had not been driven hard in a LONG time, and wasn't used to it. Thankfully, it told me in no uncertain terms what an arse I was being, and threw in the towel long before any lasting and permanent damage was done, close one. Always keep an eye on the temperature gauge when shaking-down an old skool car like this!

So the journey continues, at the time of publishing this video she's already at Ah Kei's place in Ara Damansara, and I can't wait to see how she turns out! I was actually contemplating leaving the paint as-is, but just like the Rockin' Rolla in the past, I wanted this Rockin' Rona to look as good as she drove, it's the least I can do :)
