Our second overnight hike in the 🇺🇸: Oh Be Joyful Trail
Located in the Raggeds Wilderness Area of the Gunnison National Forest near the town of Crested Butte, Colorado

In this video, we're sharing our experience on the Oh Be Joyful Trail (#836) as we make our way to Blue Lake. We wanted to show you what the terrain and overall hike are like, in case you're planning your own trip. Hope this video is helpful and that you enjoy the trail!

The Campbell’s Trail Notes (August 2025):
• The Weather: We got hit by rain twice, hail, and thunderstorms on the way up. Luckily, the hike down on day two was clear—no rain, hail, or thunderstorms in sight!
• Wildflowers: This trail is stunning with wildflowers, but by the time we arrived in August, most were fading due to the shifting weather. (Pro tip: July is likely the peak time to visit!)
• Camping: There is a campground right at the trailhead, perfect if you are bringing an RV or planning to car camp. (Reservation is a must!)
• Connectivity: There is no cell signal once you pass the trailhead. Make sure to download your maps ahead of time!
•The Trek: I finally understand why this trail is rated as difficult—the steady incline is no joke!
• Scenery: Traversing the Gunnison National Forest and Raggeds Wilderness is absolutely breathtaking.
