It’s the beginning of a new year, which means it’s time to look back at my December reading! In this video, I share the eight books I read in December, including middle grade mysteries, ghost stories, Sherlock Holmes retellings, and a couple of very strong opinions—yes, including a hot take on Harriet the Spy.
I talk about what worked, what didn’t, and which books I’d recommend to teachers, parents, librarians, and middle grade readers. From Lindsay Currie’s spooky cemetery stories to The Improbable Tales of Baskerville Hall, this was a packed reading month—thanks in part to Christmas break.
📚 Books discussed in this video:
Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
X Marks the Haunt by Lindsay Currie
The Improbable Tales of Baskerville Hall by Ali Standish
Busted by Dan Gemeinhart
It’s Watching by Lindsay Currie
The Sign of Five by Ali Standish
The Downward Spiral by Ridley Pearson
Harriet the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh
I’d love to hear from you—what did you read in December? And where do you land on Harriet the Spy? Let me know in the comments!
