Thirty days after the zombie outbreak, surviving stopped being about plans and started being about habits. I slept where I could, ate whatever didn’t smell wrong, and wrote things down because my memory kept failing me at the worst moments. A broken car alarm turned part of the city into a dead zone, drawing the infected in and holding them there. While trying to move around it, I ended up inside an abandoned courthouse and found a civil defense bunker beneath it. The door wasn’t sealed. The lights were still working in places. And I wasn’t the first one to find it.
