Thriller 25 — Media Formats + Track Listings + Bonus Content (2009)

Thriller 25 is a reissue that contains all the original Thriller recordings, as well as remixes with contemporary artists, new material and video content. Thriller 25 was one of the last recorded works released during Michael Jackson’s lifetime, as the last he was extensively involved with, as he was a coproducer for the remixed tracks.

I don’t care for the remixes, but I understand it was a valid attempt to have a 25 year old album appeal to younger listeners using more contemporary artists. I do enjoy the inclusion of the song, For All Time, which was previously unreleased. And the holographic cover art provided a nice visualization to further set this reissue apart from existing releases.

The deluxe fan pack contains the Anniversary edition of Thriller 25 on CD, as well as the Number Ones DVD, which was also available separately. The deluxe fan pack was a Walmart exclusive.

This double vinyl LP contains all the audio content from the Anniversary Edition, including the remixes, but does not include the video content found in the CD and digital formats of the Anniversary Edition.

The picture disc, while branded with the Thriller 25 logo, only contains the original Thriller album recordings, not the new audio or video content.

I always like adding more unique items to my Michael Jackson collection, so as far as the Thriller 25 release goes, I was ecstatic to add this digital download card to it. I purchased this card at the local Best Buy store. It’s still unredeemed and will forever stay that way as the Sony BMG Platinum Musicpass service was discontinued.
