Residential Structure Fire Sutter Street City of Hesperia

Watch as our members arrive on scene of a residential structure fire in the City of Hesperia. Over the past several years our members have seen the call load increase with a reduction in available resources and firefighters. Specifically in the High Desert region, where this fire took place, one significant incident can commit the majority of the available fire department equipment. This requires firefighters from other areas of the county to come in to cover additional calls for service. Often times coverage is over an hour aways which leaves a very unsafe situation for the public. The county needs to address the very serious gap in the fire districts emergency services as we see more and more need as the county grows.

At 12:54 pm on July 22, 2020 Medic Engine 302 arrived shortly after dispatch to find a well involved attached garage with fire extending into a single story home. Firefighters deployed lines and initiated an exterior attack on the garage until additional units arrived to make entry. Contact was made with the occupants of the home which stated everybody had safely evacuated. As additional units arrived sufficient personnel were put in place to move into the structure to limit spread of the fire that had established itself in the attic. Truck crews went to the roof to aid interior firefighters in stopping that spread and improve the smoke conditions inside. The fire was declared out in 40 mins with 18 personnel, 3 medic engines, 1 truck, 1 squad, 1 ambulance, 1 BC and 1 investigator. No injuries were reported to suppression personnel or civilians.
