The Breguet SP13A Atlantic was a great Maritime Patrol Aircraft(MPA). The Netherlands bought nine aircraft with a first delivery in July 1969. Three were lost, V257 crashlanded in the North Sea due to elevator troubles, V253 crashlanded West of Schotland due to a starboard engine explosion and V255 crashlanded west of Ireland with elevator problems. The remaining aircraft were grounded in 1981 and sold to France in 1984. The Atlantic was a very comfortable aircraft, good equipment and great range. I flew 2200 hours between 1969 and 1976 on the type. A pity that the design of the elevator steering was a single connection instead of a double safety design.
