What is PCOS/PCOD?
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal imbalance caused by the ovaries creating excess male hormones
During ovulation, a mature egg is released from a follicle
The egg travels through the fallopian tube where it awaits fertilization
If the egg is not fertilised, the egg and lining of the uterus are shed during next menstrual period
In PCOS, pituitary gland may release abnormally high amounts of luteinizing hormone in the blood
Resulting in Immature Follicle
Some Immature Follicle form cysts
In addition, the doctor may find high levels of insulin the blood
