Una volta finite le alghe si ciberà di materiali di scarto o residui di foglie marcie. Questo invertebrato è originario dell indonesia principalmente dalla Malesia, Tailandia e filippine, proviene dalla famiglia Neritidae. La chiocciola Military helmet è dotata di opercolo ma lo usa raramente, possiede un piede mobile ampio e lo usa per muoversi Ha un guscio tondo e spesso color nero ed è disposta di una bocca con la quale riesce a staccare le alghe dagli arredi e dai vetri.
