Ukraine’s revenge for Sumy intensifies: Kyiv expending its military targets to Leningrad and Moscow

In response to the April 13 attack on Sumy, Ukrainian forces have intensified efforts to target Russian military infrastructure, with locations such as Leningrad and Moscow also falling within their scope, according to aviation analyst Konstantin Krivolap. Speaking on Radio NV, Krivolap commented on Ukraine’s recent strike on the 112th Russian missile brigade's base in Shuya, Ivanovo region. He explained that these units hadn’t been targeted earlier due to military prioritization, but the attack on Sumy elevated their status on Ukraine’s target list. “They’ve now received what they deserved,” he said, stressing that no one will escape accountability, whether through legal means or direct action.
Krivolap emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces aim to dismantle the entire infrastructure supporting the Iskander-M missile system. He referenced NATO’s stance, which supports targeting missiles not just during launch but also during production, transport, and storage -including their components such as gunpowder, electronics, and engines. “These supply chains must be eliminated, and we are actively working on it. Our strikes depend on available resources at any given time,” he added. Krivolap noted that Shuya lacked air defenses during the Ukrainian strike, as Russian systems had largely been relocated to the front lines and areas like Leningrad, Moscow, and Engels. Other cities like Mozdok, Nizhny Novgorod, and Saratov showed no signs of active air defense, and the Russians had even kept troops housed in barracks due to a lack of proper facilities. While it's unclear if senior Russian military leaders were killed in the attack on the 112th Brigade’s HQ, Krivolap expressed confidence in Ukrainian intelligence, stating, “Our operatives know where the commanders are. Whether it’s a scooter or a car, we will find them. Budanov’s team is persistent and always follows through.”
