I am over 100 hours into a playthrough of The Chronicles of Myrtana: Archolos -- the total conversion mod for Gothic 2 -- and wanted to revisit some of my first impressions from a few years ago, when I had only played 20-some hours across the first chapter or so. This video simply re-evaluates some of those original observations with new thoughts now that I've experienced some things for a second time and have gotten significantly farther in the game overall. You don't need to watch the original impressions video first since this one is the more updated version of certain things, but I don't cover every single original point here, so it may be worth going back to watch the original one afterward for extra thoughts that aren't covered here.
Here is the link to my original impressions video from 2022:
• Impressions of Chronicles of Myrtana:...
00 - Intro
55 - Lots of dialogue choices with branching paths
10 - Combination of random and scripted events
12 - Strong world-building and characterization
20 - Good density of content in Silbach
58 - Map is an ideal blend of direction, focus, and openness
30 - Good atmosphere in some new-ish environments
31 - New variations on existing enemy types
55 - Not much of a compelling story hook
24 - Some annoyingly linear quest scripting
31 - Some of the new sound effects and audio are bad
29 - Cooking is a little tedious
29 - Some odd translation hiccups
05 - A more direct approach to the storytelling
18 - Soundtrack is a mix of good and questionable
56 - Outro
