What are EDM Solid Lifters, How are They Made, and How Do They Work?

In response to my last video on DLC lifters, I decided to make a video on EDM lifters. Or better known as electrical discharge machining. I like my flat tappet camshafts, they are a proven technology, budget friendly, and when using quality parts with proper break in and oiling, they will last for quite some time. Just like the technology behind the DLC lifter to add durability and longevity of your camshaft and lifters, EDM provides the same results using a different method. EDM machining adds a tiny hole on the face of the lifter that adds a consistent flow of oil between the lifter face and the camshaft lobe. That added bit of oil really helps protect everything, which in turn provides longevity and durability. This style lifter really is a good choice for high horsepower or high RPM engine applications. There are many companies that off the DLC lifter, like Lunati and Comp Cams. For my current builds, I will be sticking with the Comp hydraulic DLC lifters, but I do have a future build in the works that will be putting these EDM lifters to test with a Duntov 30-30 solid camshaft in a rowdy small block Chevy!
