BEAUMONT- A young woman run over by a train is facing a long road to recovery while her family turns to the community for help.
What was supposed to be a romantic date for Myah McDonald, 20, turned into a tragic accident. She was lying on top of a parked train in Beaumont stargazing with her boyfriend when it began to move. He made it down safely but the train ran over McDonald's lower legs.
Her family said doctors had to amputate her right foot and most of her left leg. Now she needs blood and they're asking the community to donate in Myah's name.
People of any blood type can donate at any Lifeshare Blood Centers. They must say they are donating in Myah McDonald's name, that she is at Christus St. Elizabeth in Beaumont and resides in Jasper, TX.
A Gofudme page is also set up for the family to help with medical expenses here: https://www.gofundme.com/myahmcdonald
A blood drive in honor of Myah McDonald will be held Tuesday, November 10 at Jean C Few Primary School in Jasper on the LifeShare Bus 9:00am to 1:00 p.m. A photo i.d. is required.
