"So I'm Dr. Neil Gray. I am a veterinarian. I live in Southern California. I had a performance horse practice there for about 35 years. I retired about three years ago, four years ago now, and spend most of my time these days working with the Equitarian Initiative.

We're here today in Fort Defiance doing a clinic on the Navajo reservation, where we've got various stations—hoof trimming, castrations, vaccinations, and general care, and dentistry. And we're expecting, I think we're expecting seven horses for castration today. So today, I'm acting as one of the surgeons.

We've got students here from two different veterinary schools: Midwestern Veterinary School, as well as University of Arizona. So one of our main jobs for the veterinarians is teaching these young veterinarians a little bit about what we do and how to do it.

In the castration station where I'm based today, we're talking about different types of castrations, different techniques, complications, aftercare, and making sure that the students understand all of that and then that they're comfortable talking to the owners, relating all that information to the owners. It's a win-win for everybody."
