FRIED CABBAGE WITH SHRIMP, SAUSAGE AND BACON
½ pound of bacon
Large yellow onion, diced
½ head of green cabbage, thinly sliced
Garlic powder, to taste
10-12 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 kielbasa link, sliced into ½ inch rounds
1 tablespoon olive oil
A good shake of seafood seasoning such as Old Bay
Smoked paprika to taste
Sauté the chopped bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy.
Add the kielbasa and cook until golden brown.
Stir in the onions, cook until softened.
Add cabbage, cook until wilted and tender. Mix cabbage well with the bacon, sausage and onions. I turn the heat down to low and put the lid on the skillet so that the cabbage can get really tender and absorb the flavors in the skillet.
Push the mixture to the side of the skillet. Add oil and shrimp to the empty space.
Season the shrimp with seafood seasoning and cook until pink and firm. Do not overcook the shrimp.
Mix all the ingredients together. Sprinkle with smoked paprika and serve hot.
