This video is my first attempt to document my theory of depth vs diameter when it comes to drums. The audio of the drums is a little earlier in the video (I failed at attempting to make this a "short" video, sorry!) before I go into my whole explanation of my theory. In short the theory is this: diameter dictates pitch, depth dictates the length of the note.
My ear hears more "boom" (i.e. a longer note) from the 18x22, but the pitch is the same as the 16x22. The extra note length of the 18" deep drum may be misinterpreted as having more bottom end or possibly the illusion of a lower note. Again, this is my theory. Let me know what you think!
