We've done it - we've cycling from Vancouver through Washington and Oregon, and have finally reached California.
Our last few days in Oregon were wet and stormy, to say the least. An 'atmospheric river' put a bit of a downer on our last few days on the wonderful Oregon coast. However, as soon as we crossed the border into California, the rain stopped! I kid you not!
One thing we were really keen to do on this trip was cycle the Lost Coast. The Lost Coast is a mostly natural and development-free area of the California North Coast in Humboldt and Mendocino Counties, which includes the King Range. It's massively steep, very hilly, with some pretty sketchy road quality, but absolutely stunning. The hills almost killed me, but it was totally worth it! There's hardly any people, and very few shops, so bring all your own snacks!
Next stop - the Avenue of the Giants!
