Parliament Winter Session LIVE: The Lok Sabha begun a day-long special discussion on 150 years of Vande Mataram. Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the debate, setting the tone for the 10-hour discussion, which is part of a year-long national celebration launched on November 7. During his address in Parliament, PM Modi spoke about the historical and patriotic significance of “Vande Mataram”, calling it a warcry and a unifying force that inspired courage and hope during India’s struggle against British rule. He said the national song stood rock solid against colonial oppression, particularly in Bengal, and contrasted it with the British-imposed “God Save the Queen,” calling “Vande Mataram” the nation’s apt response. PM Modi also came down heavily on Congress and Jawaharlal Nehru, claiming Nehru agreed with Jinnah that the song might irritate Muslims and accusing the party of compromising on it, effectively doing “tukde-tukde” of the national anthem.

लोकसभा में आज वंदे मातरम् के 150 साल पूरे होने पर विशेष चर्चा हो रही है। इस मौके पर स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन में इस देशभक्ति गीत की भूमिका और भारत की सांस्कृतिक विरासत पर चर्चा की जाएगी। चर्चा की शुरुआत दोपहर 12 बजे पीएम मोदी ने की। लोकसभा में वंदे मातरम पर चर्चा के लिए 10 घंटे का वक्त तय किया गया है। इसके बाद रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह और अनुराग ठाकुर सरकार की तरफ से वंदे मातरम पर पक्ष रखेंगे। वहीं, विपक्ष की ओर से गौरव गोगोई, प्रियंका वाड्रा, दीपेंद्र हुड्डा, विमल अकोइजम, प्रणिती शिंदे, प्रशांत पडोले, चमाला रेड्डी और ज्योत्सना महंत पक्ष रखेंगे। चर्चा के दौरान पीएम मोदी के उस बयान पर हंगामा होने के आसार हैं जिसमें पीएम मोदी ने कांग्रेस पर 1937 में इस गीत से प्रमुख छंदों को हटाने और विभाजन के बीज बोने का आरोप लगाया था। यही वजह है कि चर्चा से पहले ही कांग्रेस और बीजेपी वंदे मातरम् के मुद्दे पर आमने-सामने आ गई है।
