Shelf Stable Prepper Pantry Meal Kits! Budget Dinner- Taco Twist! Family Favorite!

Having shelf stable emergency meal kits all put together ready on your shelves can save the day in many ways! Even if the power is out for just a little while, you need to avoid opening your fridge to keep the cold in. Having all the ingredients you need to make a complete meal WITHOUT getting into the fridge is priceless! You won’t even need to use a flashlight to search around because everything is together in one bag! If the emergency or crisis is longer lasting or more serious, you will be ever so thankful to have these meals to pull you through and keep your family fed. Even in the absence of an emergency….these meals are also wonderful for crazy weeknights when your dinner plans go awry (or maybe you didn't even have a plan!) nights that your teenagers need to cook for themselves or the3 family, when you want to bless a friend who’s having a hard time with a quick meal…the possibilities are endless!
The meal kit I’m putting together today is called Taco Twist. It’s a family friendly pasta dish with a taco flair that my whole family loves! I hope your family will love it as much as mine does!

Taco Twist
10 oz rotini pasta
2 c freeze dried ground beef
15 oz can whole kernel corn
14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
2- 1 oz packets taco seasoning
2- 16.9 oz water bottles

To prepare bag: package pasta and ground beef in mylar bags or mason jars (for longer term storage use oxygen absorbers; for shorter term storage you can use ziplocs or Food Saver bags). Add all ingredients to your bag and include a copy of the recipe and cooking instructions.

To prepare meal: Drain liquid from corn into a 4-cup measuring cup. Add corn and all other ingredients EXCEPT water to a pot or Dutch oven with a lid. Add water to the measuring cup to equal 4 cups. Add to the ingredients in the pot and stir to combine. Bring to a simmer, cover and simmer 10-15 minutes or until the pasta and ground beef are tender and most of the water is absorbed. Let stand a few minutes to thicken if needed. Serve and enjoy!
Tip: if desired, add a can of fruit to serve alongside your meal.
