“Santa Lucia” is a famous Neapolitan song that dates back to 1849, with music by Teodoro Cottrau and lyrics originally based on a poem by Gennaro Pistoia.
The song is a barcarolle — a gentle, rocking boat song, describing the beauty of the seaside district of Santa Lucia in Naples, especially at night. It paints a peaceful image of moonlight on the water, calm breezes, and the comfort of being on a small boat in the bay.
The song has been recorded by many legendary singers, including Enrico Caruso, Luciano Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli, and Beniamino Gigli.
It has been arranged for Low G Ukulele by Jeff Peterson ( @UkuleleCorner ).
Thanks so much for listening 🌺🎶
