In this video, I show you how to power your home devices using your car, a deep cycle battery, and an inverter. Whether you're preparing for a power outage or looking for an off-grid backup option, this DIY setup can run things like lights, fans, and small electronics right from your vehicle.
I’ll walk you through how I connect the deep cycle battery to the inverter, and how the car can keep the system charged while in use. This is a simple and affordable emergency backup solution, though it’s not meant to power an entire house or high-demand appliances. I personally only use this setup as a last resort when the power is out.
⚠️ SAFETY NOTE:
Only use this type of setup under supervision — never leave it running unattended. If you connect your car’s alternator directly to a deep cycle battery, the battery can be overcharged or damaged without a proper charge controller or DC-to-DC charger. Always be cautious, follow safety guidelines, and understand the risks when working with electrical systems.
