In this video the concept of Chromophore is explained. Earlier this concept was applied to the systems or groups which imparts colour to organic compounds, like nitro group and aryl conjugated azo groups. But nowadays this concept is used in broader sense. Now it defined as any functional group which absorbs electromagnetic radiations in UV-VISIBLE region irrespective of the fact whether it imparts colour to the organic compounds or not.
The various example of Chromophores are also discussed in this video.
