In this video the concept of AUXOCHROME is explained. Auxochromes are the groups which do not show any characteristic absorption above 200nm, but when attached to the given Chromophore cause a shift in the position of absorption band towards longer wavelength with simultaneous increase in the intensity of absorption band. Various examples of auxochromes are also discussed.
